Child Sponsorship Fourth Page

Betty, 13

Betty is thirteen years old. Her mother was in prison but has just been released. To ease her adjustment back, she is staying with her mother while attending school and BYM's tutoring center in the afternoons.

Betty will most likely be back full-time with her mother by the end of the year so it will be time for us to let her go. She is a great help around the home and always has a pair of knitting needles or crochet thingies in her hands. If you need a sweater, we'd be happy to contract her out to make you one!

Abigail, 10

Abigail is in BYM's home after being abandoned. As such, it's likely she will be with us for quite some time.

Abi has been through severe trauma and it will be through the power of God's Spirit to heal her. She is playful and loves to be outside. She is doing well in Third grade this year. Please pray that God would heal her and always place His hands on her.

Juanita, 5

Have you ever wondered where the saying “Cute as a Button” came from? We believe that it may have originated with this 3 year old Señorita.

Juanita is normally one of the most behaved children around. She loves girlie things like playing house and mom and bossing others about. She's learning useful sayings like bye-byeeeeeee.

Juanita was in the care of her grandmother who is now in prison and unable to care for her. Through God's grace we hope to provide her a stable, loving, Christ-centered environment.

Sonia, 12

Sonia has been with us for four years now and is doing well in the loving and stable environment here. We are happy to have Sonia staying with us as God is working in her life.

Sonia is very active, typical of most 11 year olds. She is happy most of the time, wants to make new friends and craves attention. She is doing well in Fifth grade and needs little help with her studies.

Laurita, 8

Laurita came to BYM's homes after her mother was killed and her father imprisoned for a very serious crime. She has experienced great trauma in her life and like many of the girls is looking to Jesus for healing

Laura is a bright and loving little girl though at times she is a bit somber. Still, it's not too hard to get her to ride a bike, play tetherball or swing. She is doing well in Second grade and requires little assistance in completing her homework.

Nicol, 9

Nicol has come to us from another, short term home in Cochabamba. She has spent nearly her entire life in that home after being placed there from a hospital in 2000.

Little is know of her history except that her mother was killed in a traffic accident (pedestrian we assume); Nicol was being carried on her mom's back at the time in typical Bolivia fashion. Nicol has a learning disability that makes it difficult for her to express herself, learn and function properly. Her seizures are being controlled with medicine.

She is a sweet and loving girl and longs for a home where a mother and father are present. We hope that we will be able to model God's fatherly love for her. Pray that we will be able to meet the needs of this very special child. If there is anyone out there who would like to come to Bolivia and serve God by being this little girl's “substitute mom” please let us know.

Nora, 10

Nora arrived here (again) a few months ago with her younger sister. She was with us in 2003-05 while her mother was in prison. Her mom is back in prison and Nora is back here!

Nora has had a difficult past couple years, living in the country with few amenities, and her health isn't what it should be. She is receiving proper nutrition now and has plenty of time for exercise and school work.

We thank God that He brought her back to us—this time it looks permanent.

Viviana, 10

Viviana arrived here (again) a few months ago with her older sister. She was with us in 2003-05 while her mother was in prison. Her mom is back in prison and Viviana is back here! Remember her? The Catherine Zeta Jones look-alike?

Viviana has fit right back into the crowd here. She does well with her sisters and gets along well at home and in school. She appears happy and we believe that the stability she is living with now has been quite a positive step.

We thank God that He brought her back to us—this time it looks permanent.
