¿What Would I Do?

" And since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let each exercise them accordingly."

Romans 12:6a

"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor."

Romans 12:10

In order to answer this question you must first ask yourself, “What am I good at doing and how has God gifted me?” Certainly, there are specific areas of need here; but we trust the Lord that he will show us and you the area in which you can help. The first thing to consider is that you will be expected to be a servant of God to the little ones here.

Remember that this is a Children's Ministry and as such we are focused in that area. The vast majority of the work to be done involves serving/working/ playing/hanging out with the children. True, there are other 'facility type' things to do; good news for the gotta-have-a-project types among us. And there is nothing wrong with that: I'm a reforming type A personality myself; and a charter member of A.A. - Type A Anonymous!

Keeping this in mind, here is a list of some of the things you could expect to be involved in:

Remember that life here is much different than you are used to. Everything takes longer, you get tired faster and the enemy is constantly working against you in a more diligent fashion. Some of these areas of work don't sound all that intense, but you'll find it very difficult if not impossible to work 8-10 hours a day. Time must be spent with the Lord and with yourself processing what you are seeing and learning; allowing God to work in you.

ABOVE ALL, God has called us to be servants - completing the tasks He has called us to. Flexibility and a Servant like heart are imperative to God's call on your life in Cochabamba. We must constantly remind ourselves we are here to complete God's work and to minister in whatever way we are able to the children. You are guaranteed to find, however, that you will be the one being ministered to, the one being blessed and the one being changed.
